Spaces are available for the Centennial Ed Arnold Golf Classic to be held on May 9, 2016 at Mission Viejo Country Club
The Santa Ana College Foundation, in conjunction with the Santa Ana College Athletic Department, will host the Centennial Ed Arnold Golf Classic at Mission Viejo Country Club on Monday, May 9, 2016. To register for the tournament, click HERE.
Check-in is scheduled for 10 a.m. followed by a BBQ lunch at 10:30 a.m., a putting contest at 11 a.m. and a shotgun start at noon. The day's activities will conclude with a hosted cocktail reception at 5 p.m. followed by an awards dinner at 6 p.m.
Cost of the event is $250 per person, or $1000 per foursome, and includes green fees, golf cart, driving range balls, BBQ lunch, on-course refreshments, tee favors, and buffet dinner. Donations of $210 or more are tax deductible.
The tournament, which can accommodate up to 144 players, will be a four-person, team-scramble format with awards being presented to flight champions and winners of the closest-to-the pin, longest drive and putting contests.
Following the tournament, participants are invited to attend the dinner ceremony hosted by SAC alum Ed Arnold. During the ceremony the 2016 student-athlete scholarship winners will be introduced and there will be a silent and live auction.
Proceeds from the tournament will support the continued development of the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame, the Santa Ana College Athletic Department, and provide scholarships to transferring Santa Ana College student-athletes. The Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame honors former student-athletes, coaches and special contributors who have distinguished themselves throughout the 100-year history of the college.
In 2003, the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame Golf Classic was renamed the Ed Arnold Golf Classic in honor of Santa Ana College Hall of Fame member (1980), Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame member (2009) and Orange and Los Angeles Counties broadcasting legend Ed Arnold.
Following his tour of duty with the United States Marine Corp, in 1966, Arnold graduated from Santa Ana College where he earned an associate of arts degree in business and played football for the Dons before transferring to California State University, Long Beach to earn his bachelor's degree in broadcasting.
