Dons HaveThree Players Sign Early to D-1 Universities
Nate Cox, Marc Millan and Davion Orphey each signed a National Letter of Intent to compete at a four-year University. All three were named to All-Defense this last season.
SANTA ANA - Following their 8-3 season and victory in the 2012 Southern California Bowl, the Dons had three of their standout players sign early National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and football careers at four-year universities.
Leading the pack was the Dons defensive leader, Marc Millan, who signed with the University of Idaho. Millan led the Dons with 70 tackles, 43 solo, while finishing second with five sacks. He also recorded 17.5 tackles for a loss while forcing three fumbles on way to being named First-Team All-Defense in the National Division, Southern Conference.
The Dons sack leader, Nate Cox, also signed early as he will be joining Youngstown State. Cox was also named First-Team All-Defense after recording 6.5 sacks and 51 tackles. In 10 games, Cox had 28 solo tackles and another 8.5 tackles for a loss.
Keeping the defensive trend alive, Davion Orphey followed a pair of Second-Team All-Defense selections by signing with the University of Utah. Orphey, who started with the Dons as a two-way player, focused on defensive back and ended his sophomore year with 48 tackles, 35 of those for a loss while tying for the team-high with nine pass breakups.
With more signings due by February, the Dons are looking to grow their number of transfers after having 23 players sign last season.
