EAST LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Freshman forward Marquise Mitchell scored the first goal of the season for the Santa Ana College Men's Soccer team as they faced off against East Los Angeles College in their season opener on Friday afternoon.
Mitchell found the back of the net in the 23rd minute of action on a pass from sophomore Marcelo Aguirre to give the Dons an early lead.
But the Huskies responded in the second half of play, scoring at the 52nd minute which led to a 1-1 draw at the end of the match.
It was a solid result for both teams after not playing any official games in almost two years.
The Dons will hit the road again on Friday for a tournament at Mt. San Antonio College where they will match up against Lake Tahoe at 6:00 p.m. They'll follow that with another match at Mt. SAC against West Valley on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
