Late Wild Pitch Gives Dons 5-4 Victory Over Orange Coast

SANTA ANA, Calif. – No. 5 Santa Ana saw its lead slip away in the seventh inning as the Orange Coast Pirates rallied for three runs, forcing the Dons to come back from a 4-3 deficit in Wednesday's Orange Empire Conference game.

Jeana Gonzales led off the bottom of the seventh with a double to left center field to put the tying run at second. Following a walk from Drea DeFord and a pop up out, the Dons inserted Maddison Reddick to pinch hit in the biggest moment of the game.

Reddick got a pitch she liked and sent it into center field to score Gonzales and tie the game at 4-4. After pinch running for Reddick and advancing to third on a steal and a fielder's choice, Brandi Kirkpatrick sprinted home on a wild pitch to score the winning run for the Dons.

Back to back wins against the Pirates gives the Dons sole possession of third place in the OEC standings with a record of 18-8, 8-5.

Maddison Reddick is now hitting .438 in 16 at-bats with six RBI's in her sophomore season. And Nicole Yniguez collected her 13th win of the season, going the last five innings while giving up just one earned run.

SAC softball will be back at home on Wednesday, April 3rd to host Golden West at 3:00 p.m.
