SAC Softball Splits Doubleheader with College of the Canyons
Santa Ana softball went 1-1 against College of the Canyons in Wednesday's doubleheader.
SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Santa Ana College Softball team went 1-1 in their doubleheader against College of the Canyons (14-11) on Wednesday afternoon.
In game one, the Dons (5-16) came from behind to defeat the Cougars by a score of 5-3 thanks to timely hitting and another solid pitching performance by Ihilani Berard.
Aliza Mindiola posted three hits and a pair of RBI to lead the Dons offensively. Berard added two hits and an RBI while Valerie Villa worked a walk with the bases loaded to bring home another run.
In the circle, Berard collected her fifth win, giving up just three runs in seven innings.
Santa Ana started off slow again in game two but couldn't muster up the hitting needed for another comeback.
Nayelli De Jesus and Aryanna Ponce combined for three hits and a couple RBI to account for all of SAC's runs.
Bella Gomez took the loss after walking two in her start while Kalani Gonzales did the bulk of the pitching work, going five and a third innings and conceding four (two earned) runs.
SAC Softball will go on the road for their next contest against Compton College on Friday, March 20th. First pitch is set for 11:00 a.m.
