SANTA ANA, Calif. – Santa Ana's own, Blaysen Varnadoe, has picked up yet another award for her outstanding efforts in the 2016-17 basketball season.

On March 15th, she was tabbed as a 2017 All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), making her the first Don ever to receive the honor.

The sophomore out of Foothill High has had a historic career, receiving various awards as a Don including So-Cal Player of the Year, First-Team All-State and First-Team All-Conference.

Varnadoe was second in the Orange Empire Conference in points and rebounds with averages of 19ppg and 10rbs, while also shooting an efficient 49 percent from the field and adding a couple of assist per game.

She is an amazing athlete on the court but also excels in the classroom. Varnadoe was named SAC 2017 Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was a 2017 Academic All-State selection.

"This is a well-deserved honor for a young lady who is the epitome of what a student-athlete should be," SAC Head Coach Luppani said. "Once again, we are so proud that out Blaysen is being recognized and it shows how much this team has done to put our program back on the map. I am honored to be able to coach her, and more importantly, for being such a positive impact on our program".

All Varnadoe's hard work has earned her a scholarship to NCAA Division II California Baptist University to continue her education and basketball career.
